Frightful Fridays! A Billion Moths in a Kaiju Suit (BiMoKaS)

Hey there! Welcome back for another Frightful Fridays! By request, I’ve gone back to the Kaiju well, and this time the base critter is the humble moth. I realize moths can’t shoot fire out of their antennae, but I’m confident I came up with a plausible explanation for this ability thanks to the sheer number of moths.

An enormous moth zips through the sky, creating an airborne wake where it flies. Its antennae glow red, and it constantly sheds scales.

Antenna Beams (Su)
BiMoKaS’s antenna beams have a range of 600 feet.
Reflective Scales (Ex) Once every 4 rounds as an immediate action BiMoKaS can release dozens of reflective scales that grant it a +4 deflection bonus to AC against ranged attacks until the beginning of its next turn. If a ranged attack misses BiMoKaS, the attack redirects back to the attacker, resolving with the attack roll made by the attacker. For 1 round afterward, BiMoKaS’s fly speed is reduced to 60 feet, and it can’t use its speed burst.
Speed Burst (Ex) As a full-round action, BiMoKaS can fly in a straight line up to 480 feet. Creatures within 60 feet above or below BiMoKaS’s path are affected as if targeted by gust of wind (DC 35).
Stinger Barrage (Ex) Once every 4 rounds, BiMoKaS can launch hundreds of stingers in a 600-foot cone. All creatures caught in this area of effect take 40d6 piercing damage (Reflex DC 34 halves). A creature that takes damage is subject to stinger venom. The save DC is Constitution-based.
Stinger Venom (Ex) Stinger Barrage—injury; save Fort DC 34, frequency1/round for 10 rounds; effect 2d4 Dex and blinded for 1 round; cure3 consecutive saves.

When billions of moths decide to coalesce into a massive moth effigy, more than some linens are at stake. A collective of moths that forms the nucleus of a billion moths in a kaiju suit (BiMoKaS) drones inaudibly to most ears but with a worldwide reach, attracting billions of moths into the unit. BiMoKaS has incredible aerial maneuverability and can release clumps of scales from the moths’ bodies to protect itself from attacks at range, usually the only way to engage BiMoKaS in combat. The constant beating of wings creates friction the BiMoKaS shunts to its antennae, from which it can release the energy as fiery beams. Like other creatures that gather in these astounding numbers, BiMoKaS disperses after a few days, with the individual moths returning to their previous homes. Replicating the pitch of the attracting drone also causes the moths to scatter, but doing so requires considerable research and musical talent.

BiMoKaS measures 100 feet in length, has a 180-foot wingspan, and weighs 5,000 tons.

Stinger Barrage [two-action] (evocation, poison) BiMoKaS unleashes hundreds of stingers in 600-foot cone. This deals 12d6 piercing damage and 12d6 poison damage to all creatures in the area (DC 48 basic Reflex). A creature that takes poison damage is subject to BiMoKaS’s Stinger Venom. BiMoKaS can’t use Stinger Barrage again for 1d4 rounds.

Flyby. BiMoKaS doesn’t provoke an opportunity attack when it flies out of an enemy’s reach.

Kaiju Fortitude. If damage reduces BiMoKaS to 0 hit points, it must make a Constitution saving throw with a DC of 5 + the damage taken, unless the damage is from a critical hit. On a success, BiMoKaS drops to 1 hit point instead.

Legendary Resistance (3/Day). If BiMoKaS fails a saving throw, it can choose to succeed instead.

Recovery. Whenever BiMoKaS fails a saving throw against any effect that makes it charmed, paralyzed, petrified, incapacitated, or polymorphs it, it can attempt a new saving throw at the end of it turn to remove the effect. It can only remove one effect during its turn.

Regeneration. BiMoKaS regains 20 hit points at the start of its turn. If BiMoKaS is damaged by a critical hit that deals at least 50 damage, this trait doesn’t function at the start of its next turn. BiMoKaS dies only if it starts its turn with 0 hit points and doesn’t regenerate.

Siege Monster. BiMoKaS deals double damage to objects and structures.

Multiattack. BiMoKaS makes four attacks.

Wing. Melee Weapon Attack: +14 to hit, reach 20 ft., one creature. Hit: 49 (12d6 + 7) bludgeoning damage.

Antenna Beam. Ranged Weapon Attack: +15 to hit, range 600 ft., one creature. Hit: 45 (10d8) fire damage.

Speed Burst. BiMoKaS flies 480 feet in a straight line. Creatures 60 feet above or below its path are affected by the gust of wind spell, which lasts until the beginning of its next turn.

Stinger Barrage (Recharge 5–6). BiMoKaS launches hundreds of stingers in a 600-foot cone. Each creature in the area must make a DC 21 Dexterity saving throw, taking 70 (20d6) piecing damage) and 70 (20d6) poison damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. If a creature takes poison damage, it must succeed on a DC 21 Constitution saving throw or become poisoned for 1 minute. A poisoned creature is blinded. The creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success.

All ranged attacks against BiMoKaS are made with disadvantage, and if a ranged attack misses BiMoKaS, the attack redirects back to the attacker, using the better of the two rolls (as if the attack was made with advantage). For 1 round afterward, BiMoKaS’s flying speed is reduced to 60 feet, and it can’t use its speed burst.

Legendary Actions

BiMoKaS can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature’s turn. BiMoKaS regains spent legendary actions at the start of its turn.

Flap. BiMoKaS makes a Wing attack.

Move. BiMoKaS moves up to its speed.

Quick Recharge (Costs 3 Actions). BiMoKaS recharges Stinger Barrage or Reflective Scales.
