Frightful Fridays! Combat Wombat

Hello and welcome back for another Frightful Fridays! With the combat wombat, I have filled in a gap I thought I had already filled. I almost went with dire wombat, but I couldn’t resist the rhyme.

I hope you enjoy the combat wombat. Next week: another construct, most likely.

This broad, squat, brown-furred mammal has powerful rodent teeth and long, sharp claws on all four of its feet. The creature wiggles its relatively short ears and snorts from its blunt muzzle as it paws the ground, making a deep furrow in the surface as it does so.

Burrowing Charge (Ex)
A combat wombat can use the charge and run actions while burrowing.

Combat wombats, also known as dire wombats, thrive in harsh environments where very little grows. Though omnivorous, they supplement their diets with other animals as the opportunity presents itself. The highly territorial animals will fight intruders much larger than them and often drive away those who don’t share the wombats’ perseverance.

Despite their generally hostile demeanors, combat wombats allow themselves to become somewhat domesticated by gnomes and other humanoids who make the attempt. These attempts succeed when the wombats’ ostensible tamers present the animals with copious greens. These wombats act as mounts and become as fiercely protective of their humanoid companions as they would any of their warrenmates.

Typical combat wombats measure 6 feet in length, stand just over 3 feet tall, and weigh 500 pounds.
